June 05, 2020: Construction Update – June 5, 2020

Smith Ranch Road Closed Weekdays Monday June 8 through Friday June 19, 4 am – 5 pm

The District has previously mentioned the likelihood of additional closures of Smith Ranch Road due to construction activity. The road has been closed weekdays for the last two weeks, and the District has now approved an additional two-week public safety closure of Smith Ranch Road.

During this road closure there is no access to the reclamation area from the access point adjacent to the LGVSD Treatment Plant. The northerly ‘Hamilton’ access is open. All access can resume after the closure on those days, until sunset.

It is anticipated that there will be additional multiple weekday construction closures of Smith Ranch Road affecting access to the reclamation area in the coming months. Please frequently check the District website at https://lgsdis.specialdistrict.org/ for updates. This construction is part of the District’s Secondary Treatment Plant Upgrade and Recycled Water Expansion Project.

Please note that last month, upon certain reductions in the Shelter-in-Place Order’s restrictions, the District reopened the reclamation area parking lot and trails to the public for the purpose of engaging in Essential Activities as defined in the Order, including outdoor exercise. However, the ongoing construction will require the periodic closure of Smith Ranch Road and the reclamation area. We apologize for any confusion between these two issues, and for any inconvenience caused by these temporary road closures.

When visiting the reclamation area, please utilize all social distancing practices, for your safety and that of other visitors.
