Latest News... Introduction Where can you find herons roosting in tree and 3.5 miles of public access trails on the edge of San Pablo Bay? The answer is at Las Gallinas Valley Sanitary Districts Wastewater Treatment Reclamation Project. Visit the multi-faceted reclamation project that includes a freshwater marsh, irrigated pastures, storage ponds, a saltwater marsh and miles of trails for hiking, biking, and bird watching. Hands-On Exhibits and Events at LGVSD The Las Gallinas Valley Sanitary District joins efforts with S.E.E.D., Marin Conservation Corp, Wildcare, Marine Mammal Center, Central Marin Sanitary, Novato Sanitary, MCStoPP and Community Volunteers to celebrate Earth Day (April 21). School Children from the Dixie School District and Novato will arrive to our onsite classroom to directly experience and learn early-on how plants and animals play an important ecologic role in our environment. Contests and games, lab work, pollution searches, creek critters up-close, bird observations and treatment plant tours are just some of the activites the students can participate in. They will experience the forces that shape our environment. Facility Tours Aside from our Special Events Calendar, we at LGVSD are eager to provide tours of our facilities to any group, big or small. Please call (415)472-1734, ext. 10 to set up your appointment, and you'll be on your way to familiarizing yourself with the benefits of treated wastewater. |
