Laterals

A sewer service lateral is a pipe that takes an individual building's wastewater to the public sewer main in the street. Laterals are typically privately owned and maintained. The following brochure in pdf format contains excellent information about sewer service laterals: what they are, differences between upper and lower laterals, who maintains them and how they contribute to wastewater collection and treatment issues.
