Beginning Saturday, May 1st
Beginning Saturday, May 1st
For Las Gallinas Valley Sanitary District Residents by Marin Resource Recovery Center
Residential green cart material being picked up by Marin Sanitary Service in the Las Gallinas Valley Sanitary District is currently hauled to Northern Recycling Compost in Zamora, California. As part of the Las Gallinas Valley Sanitary District and Marin Sanitary Service’s efforts to achieve Zero Waste and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, a residential food scraps composting program will be piloted in the Las Gallinas Valley Sanitary District. In addition, a “Marin’s Own”* free compost give-away will be offered to residents in the Las Gallinas Valley Sanitary District.
Marin Sanitary Service/Marin Resource Recovery Center will provide one truckload (40 cubic yards) of organic compost free to residents in the Las Gallinas Valley Sanitary District. The give-away begins on May 1, 2010 and continues for one week or until all the compost has been given away. The give-away will take place at the Marin Resource Recovery Center facility at 565 Jacoby Street, San Rafael. Participants will need to provide proof of residency in the Las Gallinas Valley Sanitary District or simply bring the flyer that you receive in the mail about the event. Subsequent to the give-away, Marin Sanitary Service will have compost available to the public for sale during its regular business hours.
*“Marin’s Own” is the brand name for Marin Sanitary Service’s organic, soil additive resulting from green, organic waste composting.
Marin Resource Recovery Center hours: weekdays 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M., seven days a week! Visit the MSS website.
